Wine that Inspires People and Nourishes the Soul

Born out of hard work, innovation, and a long term vision for future generations, Port Townsend Vineyards offers a line of locally produced wine to the city. This venture, imagined by long-time residents of Port Townsend, was brought to life in collaboration with Ben Thomas, a nationally-respected local winemaker. The goal: to create a wine experience that represents the honest hard work, coastal character, persistent curiosity, and caring relationships of the Port Townsend culture.

We provide thought-provoking wine for casual enjoyment. We do it by welcoming you into our town and sharing our talents. And we do it with our legacy in mind. That’s why practicing sustainable production methods is so important to us. We hope you agree. —Port Townsend Vineyards

Grown, Crushed, Aged, Bottled and Shared By Hand

At Port Townsend Vineyards, we believe wine is an experience of all five senses, blending art with science as the fruit is grown and ultimately transformed. Visitors are welcomed at three locations, each within Port Townsend city limits and featuring its own learning opportunities, scenic vistas, and tastings. Throughout each setting, the objective is to highlight the full wine experience, which includes not only the wine, but also the environment and company that surrounds it.

Vineyard on Portuguese Hill

Port Townsend Vineyards was launched through the planting of vineyard using organic farming techniques in 2015. Using only hand-harvesting techniques, care for the vines is without the use of pesticides, fungicides, or herbicides. The Vineyard on Portuguese Hill is cultivated to showcase unique grape varieties that thrive in this geography and coastal climate. This five-zone vineyard welcomes guests by appointment onto the land to immerse themselves into a world of winemaking that begins with lesser-known and beautiful varieties. Walk the vineyard rows and observe the subtleties between Iskorka and Garanoir, as well as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and many more. If you’re interested in arranging a tour of the vineyards or learning about the art of growing and harvesting grapes, please contact winemaker Ben Thomas, at

Port Townsend Winery

The Port Townsend Winery provides guests and emerging winemakers the opportunity to get up close to state-of-the-art equipment and winemaking methods. Featuring a co-op production facility to support sustainable winemaking, all of the grapes grown locally as well as those sourced from top regional vineyards are cared for here. Built as a custom-crush facility, this building houses modern winemaking equipment and ample space for barrel storage. It was designed to ensure the hand-harvested grapes could be crushed and fermented with minimal intervention using environmentally-efficient water and energy practices. Port Townsend Winery is located at the southern entry into Port Townsend off of West Sims Way and includes a unique tasting room experience.

Downtown Tasting Room

The Downtown Tasting Room provides a sensory experience with an emphasis on the experience of wine and food together. Located at 215 Taylor St. and open daily, a charming space in historic downtown Port Townsend to taste and enjoy their wines.

Visit all three locations to get the best perspective on what makes the Port Townsend Vineyards experience so special!
